Sauce Boss (May 3rd, 2019)

Date: May 3 2019
Time: 7:30 PM

Location:

Ashe Civic Center
962 Mt Jefferson Rd
West Jefferson, NC 28694

Legendary performer (as chronicled in Jimmy Buffett’s 1999 hit “I Will Play for Gumbo”) Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton brings his Florida slide guitar blues, his gumbo, and his own hot sauce to every multi-sensory performance. His show includes a culinary demonstration with audience stirring and sampling the gumbo. Sauce Boss is a powerhouse of energy with his one-man band.

Florida swamp-funk slide guitarist, Bill Wharton has been a musician for over a half a century. On his 1989 New Years Eve gig, Sauce Boss splashed a bottle of his Liquid Summer Hot Sauce into a huge pot of simmering gumbo, feeding the entire audience. The rest is history. 200,000 bowls later, he’s still feeding the masses for free at his shows. The Sauce Boss show is a soul shouting picnic of bluesy, rock and roll brotherhood.

Tickets are $22 adults and $5 students and may be purchased at the Ashe Arts Center or by calling 336-846-2787.

Merlefest 2019 (April 25th thru April 28th, 2019)

Merlefest 2019

MerleFest, presented by Window World and considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, serves as an annual homecoming for musicians and music fans. Held on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, MerleFest was founded in 1988 in memory of the late Eddy Merle Watson, son of American music legend Doc Watson. MerleFest is a celebration of ‘traditional plus’ music, a unique mix of music based on the traditional, roots-oriented sounds of the Appalachian region, including bluegrass and old-time music, and expanded to include Americana, country, blues, rock and many other styles. The festival hosts numerous artists, performing on 13 stages during the course of the four-day event. The annual event has become the primary fundraiser for the WCC Endowment Corporation, funding scholarships, capital projects and other educational needs.

Special Promotion: We have a limited offer for Merlefest rooms, click the Book Now button and pick the dates of Merlefest you need and enter the Promotional Code: Merlefest. There is a 2 night minimum but you’ll save an extra 10%, however you have to book this before April 12th.

Village Inn Pizza Parlor

Village Inn Pizza Parlor

William “Ray” Lackey Sr. introduced Village Inn Pizza to North Carolina in 1967 when he opened his first of 12 locations right off of I-77 in Statesville. Ray always credited the success of the family operated pizza chain to our famous homemade sauce, dough, and traditional thin crust. In over 50 years, Village Inn has never deviated from the original recipes. Our dough and sauce are made in-house daily and we believe this is the foundation of any good pizza. It’s not the easiest way, or the big-chain approach, but it’s the best! Additional popular menu items include spaghetti, sandwiches, home-made soup selections, chicken wings and our 40 plus item salad bar. Village Inn also offers our all-you-can-eat pizza buffet featuring a wide selection of fresh hot pizza, salad, soup, pasta with home-made meat sauce and dessert pizza.
